As the summer of 1969 began, Godfrey Jordan was a typical 16-year-old kid with the camera club who wrote and took photos for the school newspaper and yearbook. On a lark one afternoon, he brought his portfolio to a Toronto newspaper offering his services as a freelance photographer for the entertainment department: the first assignment was going to Maple Leaf Gardens to photograph Jimi Hendrix.
His final concert of '69 came at the O’Keefe Centre, covering Led Zeppelin. In the six months between those events a lot else happened..... These photographs of the performers and audiences represent just a small part of what he documented during that time. |
